Authentic and fresh - family favorite. My family has been driving down from the Flint area for over 10 years to come to Cherry Blossom, the food's that good. I agree with previous posters - the place is filled with Japanese families, which couldn't be a bigger endorsement for its authenticity.

It's not just sushi, although the sushi selections are always delicious and fresh (I grew up on their California roll). Their appetizer list is extensive - we always get the seaweed salad, the dynamite clam, and the stuffed mushrooms. Of course the tempura is good too. The soba is satisfying and filling. My sister always gets the salmon teriyaki, and my dad gets the mackerel. I prefer to stuff myself on the sushi and go for red bean ice cream for dessert!

Downsides: occasional spotty service; the karaoke bar is pretty smoky; the chairs are inexplicably heavy and tough to move (you'll see what I mean). None of these are dealbreakers for me though...I will be back!  View Less

Very authentic, very fresh. This place has an amazing menu. Unfortunatly the appetizer section is written more for someone who speaks Japanese. Work with it though, there are some really interesting things that I have never seen on it. Try the various tofu concoctions or their mushrooms. All the standards are here, and the sushi is excellent. This place really is a cut above the rest (like Mushashi without the overinflated prices). Service is slow to very slow, but be patient, it is worth it.  View Less View More

Authentic Japanese food - a true rarity. I lived in Japan for several years, so I was delighted to find a restaurant nearby that had authentic Japanese food. It's probably not for everyone, but if you appreciate or want to experience authenticity, this is the place in the Metro Detroit area. Their sushi is good, their lunch sets are very good, and many of their side dishes (agedashi dofu, horenso gomae, etc.) are excellent.  View Less View More

Surprisingly Good. My first impression with the Cherry Blossom was a good one when the guy on the other line taking reservations was courteous and helpful. Arriving early, the wait staff immediately took to finding my wife and me a seat. In the meantime we waited at the bar then were placed at the sushi bar for dinner. The waitress was very pleasant and so was every staff member we encountered (surprising). The sushi was good and our food was delicious with no problems.

Problems include location (a strip mall is not exactly romantic or charming), the exterior garden needed work as well as some cleaning up in the inside (salt shaker stuck to the table). There is also a smell of smoke when you walk in. Regardless, I would certainly visit this restaurant again. The quality of food and service were highlights of this restaurant.  View Less

Great Sushi in Metro-Detroit. I have some experience, with Japanese food, and this is the best Japanese restaurant in Metro-Detroit, (and I would still prefer it, over any others in the country, so far). The noodles are perfectly cooked, and the sushi is really fresh. The sushi bar is a perfect place to sit, if you're going solo. Usually, the sushi chefs are a lot of fun to talk to. If you're going with a group, I suggest reserving a room. There are private tatami rooms for the cultured and open-minded (just don't forget to take your shoes off - it's considered disrespectful, if you don't). You can also dine in the karaoke room/bar. Oh, and make sure you try the ice cream (vanilla, green tea, mango, ginger, lychee, or red bean). They're all delicious!  View Less View More

Darn Good. Very good authentically Japanese food. Not just sushi, which is very good. Excellent menu item selections. Service is usually good. Can be expensive.  View Less View More

Very Good. I like the food here very much. The prices are a little high but the menu diversity is excellent. One of our areas better real Japanese restaurants. Excellent service. Only drawback is it's maybe a little too authentic as everyone seems to smoke cigarettes. Just like Japan!  View Less View More

Authentic Japanese. I am from Japan and this restaurant serves a very good, authentic Japanese food. You can tell by looking at most of the customers on weekday - mostly Japanese business people. Also, they have the best California rolls in Michigan. The service could be improved and I do not like the fact that they do not have refills on soft drinks (they used to, but changed it recently. I was shocked to discover my $10 tab on ice tea and the waitress failed to mantion anything...)  View Less View More

Tempura to perfection!. Everybody doesn't like Sushi and Cherry Blossom has many other selections. Their prices are a bit high - but still reasonable. 2 can easily get out for $35.00 with no alcohol.  View Less View More
