I love Home Bakery! – I have to disagree with calicrowned. I have ordered close to one hundred cakes from Home Bakery over the last twenty-five years, including birthday, wedding and shower cakes. I have never been disappointed. When my children were young and wanted a particular theme, I would simply give the idea and the decorators took it from there. I was always amazed by the creativity and perfection of the designs. As far as taste, I very much disagree with you. Not only are there many batter and filing choices, but they are all delicious. Always moist and fresh. The buttercream frosting is wonderful and just as good is their poured chocolate topping. I can't imagine comparing a Home Bakery cake to a Kroger cake......there is simply no comparison. Perhaps I have not sampled as many cakes in my lifetime as you apparently have, but I know what tastes good! As far as customer service is concerned.......I have NEVER had a negative experience. Every time I've been in the bakery I have been waited on quickly and politely. When I ordered a wedding cake for my sister, I was very pleased with the attentive manner of the staff and the choices I was give. This is a wonderful bakery and I will be a life-long customer.

Amazing Artistry!! – I'm new to MI, as of 08, and I have been looking for my new favorite bakery for months. I found Home Bakery by driving through Downtown Rochester. I immediately had high hopes when I entered the establishment and noticed many wonderfully designed examples displayed throughout. Initially, the younger blond girl who helped me was kind as I initiated conversation about their specialties. She then opened up and compared their establishment to "Ace Of Cakes" and that really sparked my curiousity. We (my fiance and I) tried a cupcake since we weren't in the market for an actual cake yet, and it was fine for a cupcake (nothing at all like Cupcake Station, wow, now they have amazing cupcakes - watch out Sprinkles!!). All the while, thinking that most top bakeries, (such as Hansens Cakes in Tarzana - just a bit north of Los Angeles - whom are rude also, but have gorgeous, tasty-delicious cakes), have great differences in their batter, fillings and frostings used in ordered cakes vs cupcakes and sample pieces for tastings. Could be the freshness or just plain attention they get.

So, of course, when a birthday came around I jumped at the chance to try my new found bakery. I excitedly phoned in my order, only to be greeted by a non concerned woman who slammed down the rules of ordering cakes and did not even bother to inform me of the proper price of the cake. She just seemed like she didn't like her job. To be honest, I think any person who even has a job during these horrible times of our current economy should greatly appreciate the value of a customer, especially a new customer who loves to spread the news about a great new find. I shrugged away the rudeness of the order taker cause I still had not tasted one of their works of art. But sure enough, when I arrived to pick up my cake, I was promptly waited on by a woman with dark hair who just seemed very ill faced with no pleasant greeting at all. She informed me that my cake was even more than quoted over the phone and it's a really good thing I stopped at the bank to get more cash because they don't take cards. She showed me the cake and I was very pleased with the classy design, which was included in the price. Then came my biggest disappointment - the cake tasted just a step or two above a box job, the filling tasted like it was either from a jar of jelly or mass produced sold by the can. The buttercream frosting was okay, but lacked some authenticity. And thats why I would compare Home Bakery's cakes to Kroger's. Perhaps this place must get a lot of people who just have not been outside of Metro Detroit. Im sure I alone will not break the loyal customers of Home Bakery, but loyal customers beware that they ought to treat you better and perhaps lower the price of their cakes that really ought to be compared to Kroger. I'm not sure if they are "Zagat Rated" one might check!!

Mind you, I did not have a confrontation nor do I think they were even aware of my disappointment. I gave them every benefit of the doubt, until I ate the cake!

Bottom line - Beautifully designed and will get your guests visual approvals.

I'm gonna keep looking!!!

Best Baked Goods I've Ever Found – My only experience with the HOME Bakery was when my wife passed away. My employer sent a gift basket from HOME Bakery. It was a giant basket filled with individually wrapped Danish rolls, muffins, cookies, a raspberry loaf, a loaf of bread and a couple of things I can't name. Every single item was perfectly moist, attractive and bursting with taste. So, I got a lot of variety of items to try and I can't think of a single thing to say that's negative about any item, and I tried them all. Thus, I feel justified in stating my opinion. I would highly recommend this bakery to all of my family and friends. Because this was a gift, I cannot speak about the price. But, because of the quality of their product, I would expect to pay a higher price. We're not talking about Twinkies here. These are superior baked goods and I know my baked goods. Give them a try!

Best EVERYTHING! – I love this bakery! They did our wedding cake, and even though there was a slight problem with the top (due to a VERY WARM day), they did a new top before any got to the reception!

I ordered a baby shower cake from them for an out-of town shower. It was worth it, as even was raving about it!

All desserts are fab! Customer service is great!

LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!

The ONLY bakery I use for cakes! – 3-D pink poodle cake for my daughter's first birthday. Pokemon for my son, CD player for my other daughter, Hawaiian Luau scene for my friend's wedding shower, gift-wrapped present for my Christmas party ( so realistic that my guests thought the buffet was the gift table)....the list goes on and the inspiration is endless!

Home Bakery is the gold-standard of cake decorating while keeping their cakes moist and delicious!

Home Bakery is the BEST! – We've used Home Bakery for all of our family birthday cakes since 1999. The cakes are absolutely delicious. We always get positive feedback from the parents of our daughters friends as well as our own guests on the creative designs of the cakes. In fact, we get "new believers" from our guests every year and have noticed how many of our friends and neighbors are now ordering their cakes from Home Bakery. They can be a bit pricey depending on what you want but you won't regret it. We've even established Home Bakery as one of our preferred suppliers for corporate events. They can also deliver if you need it. Customer service is great. They aim to please!
