Over priced poor service. We were seated fairly promptly. But it took 45 minutes to get a bread basket. I asked 3 waitresses for a bar napkin to get rid of my gum and did not get it. Our waitress finally gave me an old receipt to deposit my gum. I ordered Blue points, they were fresh but the smallest I've ever seen eating out. I ordered trout and it was small also. My wife had scallops which also was a small portion. The drinks were over priced, I had a Rusty Nail with little or no scotch, very disappointing. I don't remember the waitresses name but she provided very poor service. Food was average over priced and minimal. Charley's Crab is nothing like it used to be. How sad!

PS I did get a call from the manager about my poor review on their site, she claimed we were comped so I assume the waitress pocketed the cash. She didn't offer anything more and seemed to not believe me.

Better than ever!. Charley's Crab is BACK! My favorite restauarant as a kid, it went downhill there for a while, but now it's better than ever! My date and I had such a wodnerful time the other night, and we will definately return soon. I have to give credit to our server, Paul, who was one of the best waiter's we have ever had. He was so friendly and attentive and everything was perfect! It was Wednesday Night and they have a special for Half Off EVERY bottle of wine! what a wonderful surprise and bargain that was! We were able to enjoy a wine we would not normally drink at a restaurant! I love Lobster and Paul was kind enough to deshell it for me. We really liked the special appetizer and the Chocolate Truffle Cake as Dessert. The bartender, Jen, was also very friendly and efficient when we were waiting for our table at the bar.

Generations have enjoyed the food, impressive service and sea-worthy atmosphere at this seafood legend.. In Short
Whether it's an everyday meal or a once-in-a-lifetime occasion, Charley's Crab fits the bill. For nearly three decades, this seafood restaurant has been the epitome of fine dining in Detroit. The wood-paneled interior looks like a ship's hull laced with artifacts of sea voyages--and every table is worthy of the captain's company. Besides the tender lobster and fish dishes, the menu includes a selection of aged beef, lamb, veal and homemade pastas.

A chip off the old block. Boy if you ever went to the original on Pine Lake you would appreciate how difficult it is to catch that "classic one time ambiance" but though Muer is gone this place still feels great, the food is excellent the service wonderful and Bob Seally's rag time is to die for.... no not the original ( part of a huge chain) but the chowders as good.... I'd finish off a great bottle of wine and a bucket of steamers lisening to jazz here any time ...here'e to you boss!!! Kaz

A Little Over Priced. Went there because I was craving "Charley's Chowder" (very very good) and had an excellent meal but I have had the same and better for less money. This is a place I would recommend only on a special occasion as you can get better value (without the Chowder) at the many Royal Oak / Ferndale area Restaurants. Also they need to update their menu as I have been eating the same things there since I was a kid with my parents and there was nothing "Year 2000" on the menu. Again not bad in any way.
