I SUGGEST THE "CURRY NOODLE"--YEEEEUUUMMMIE!!.
I adore Thai cuisine and New Bangkok has great , a very clean establishment with very polite staff. A little dark inside but I kinda' dig that look. The food taste very fresh and prepared not only to your specifications but also appealing to the eye. They have great 'Pad Thai', 'Pad Prik', 'Drunken Fried Rice', 'Kow Pad' and I love their salads....refreshing and different. I judge a Thai place based on their curries. They must have a good 'Curry Noodle"...New Bangkok--does.
I had a taste for Thai 1 week ago but I was in Ferndale on Woodward so I visited "Siam Spicy". I just haaaad to have my dish but they had no "Curry Noodle" on the menu so I tried "Drunken Fried Rice w/ pork"...decent. More spicy than flavor but it was decent. That's the problem (for me) with a lot of Thai restaurants--They can't seem to balance that complex flavor of spicy, sweet and savory.
Where was I?...Oh!..um...it was decent but when my order came I turned to leave out and wow!!--I get dreamy-eyed, excited and disappointed all at the same time because there it is...a "piece of paper" taped to the wall that advertises my dish!!!...I love those little hand-written signs ...they so add character to a place but a dish that popular should have been on the menu. Anyway, they do prepare it . So I decided yesterday I will go and try it because when I crave something I want it till I get it. I ordered it, got it.....suffice to say...I still crave it. It was not like NEW BANGKOK. It too, was a lot of spice, not much flavor, dry and they add tofu. I hate tofu.
I HATE TOFU...did I say that already.
Some say stick with what you know...what you are used to but isn't that why America and living is so great? Because there are so many champions out there?
I just haven't found one beat mine yet--NEW BANGKOK.
